Single. Dating. Confused.

Like many people, I learned about relationships through trial and error. Looking back, I wish I'd known some basic things about love, communication, and connection. It wouldn't have prevented every broken heart—but it certainly would have saved a few, including my own.

Today, I'm a college professor and a parent of adult children. I see young adults asking many of the same questions my generation asked.

The difference is that they're now doomscrolling through a flood of contradictory relationship advice online. Some of it is helpful. Some of it is designed mainly to get clicks and views.

Psychologists and relationship scientists have spent decades studying love, attraction, communication, conflict, and commitment.

The challenge isn't that good information doesn't exist. It's that the people who need it most rarely encounter it in a practical, engaging, and human way.
